Origin Source Types IPDF represents data source databases as Origin Databases.
Origin Databases are captured during the during Schema Snapshot > Origin Connections Databases > Get Connections Databases Tab process.They are used to identify the type of the Origin Connections (e.g. folder, ODBC, OLEDB).
There are no IPDF default values.
Step-by-step guide
- In the Manage Tab click on the New or Edit links
- Type the following data:
- Name: the name of the Origin Source Type
- Description: free text description
- Governance (optional): associated Governance item
- Notes (optional): free text optional notes

Add or Edit Origin Databases manually is not allowed.

Connections are required to get Origin Databases. In the current release, those are the supported connection types: folder, OLEDB and ODBC.
During Get Databases process, IPDF will use the Origin Connections to list all reachable databases - for OLEDB/ODBC connections - and the root folder for the folder connections.

Get Databases process will not remove from IPDF captured Databases if those are deleted from the data source servers or if they are not reachable anymore form the connection. Those Origin Databases must be removed manually. |
