Dictionaries contain a subset of entries from schema snapshots. Each of the entries can have additional metadata associated with it including a preferred name "Alias" as it should appear in Qlik Sense.
Manage Tab
The Manage tab displays a list of entries associated with one or more dictionaries based on the filtered selection: .
Dictionary: the name of the dictionary included in the filter
Dictionary Entry Type: either Dimension or Measure
Alias: the field name as it appears in the QVD
Expression: freeform text field for coding expressions using Qlik Script language
Master Item: indicates that this is a Master Item (either a Master Dimension or Master Expression) as defined in Qlik Sense documentation
Governed: indicates that this dictionary entries has passed through the governance process and requires Reviewer approval for changes
Contributer Input: the name of the Data Steward or Data Owner that is responsible for the dictionary entry if it is has been designated Governed
Reviewer Input: the name of the team leader of supervisor that is responsible for setting the Governed flag for this dictionary entry
note: IPDF does not include a governance workflow in this release. Governance, contributor and reviewer fields are provided for convenient integration with other manual or automated work flows.
Clicking the arrow next to the links provides additional metadata for the dictionary entry:
Clicking the link allows updates to be applied to the dictionary entry.

Tags: indicates that this is a Master Item (either a Master Dimension or Master Expression) as defined in Qlik Sense documentation
Notes : freeform text field for notes on data evolution, quality, use cases and notes for data managers and developers
Append Origin Items Tab
Origin Source Types are captured during the Schema Snapshot > Origin Connections > Get Connections Tab process.
They are used to identify the type of the Origin Connections (e.g. folder, ODBC, OLEDB).
There are no IPDF default values.
Step-by-step guide
- In the Manage Tab click on the New or Edit links
- Type the following data:
- Name: the name of the Origin Source Type
- Description: free text description
- Governance (optional): associated Governance item
- Notes (optional): free text optional notes
Origin Source Types are required for Origin Connections
Deleting an Origin Source Type will exclude automatically all associated Origin Connections
